English Teacher (Language and Literature) at Emerald Teaching 🌟

Are you passionate about inspiring students to excel in both English Language and English Literature? Emerald Teaching is seeking a qualified English Teacher with QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) to join our team and deliver dynamic English lessons in schools across Manchester.

About the Role:
As an English Teacher, you will be responsible for teaching both English Language and English Literature at Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4, and potentially Key Stage 5. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Planning and delivering engaging and challenging lessons in both English Language and English Literature, tailored to meet the needs of all learners.
  • Assessing student progress through formative and summative assessments, essays, and exams, offering constructive feedback to aid development.
  • Differentiating lessons to cater to students with varying abilities and learning needs, ensuring all students are supported in their learning journey.
  • Fostering a love for literature by introducing students to a wide range of texts, from classic works to contemporary pieces, while enhancing their language skills.
  • Encouraging critical thinking and analytical skills, helping students develop their abilities to interpret and evaluate texts.
  • Managing classroom behavior to create a respectful and focused learning environment conducive to student success.
  • Collaborating with colleagues to ensure consistent curriculum delivery and to share best practices in English teaching.

What We’re Looking For:

  • QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) and a degree in English Language, English Literature, or a related field.
  • Strong subject knowledge in both English Language and English Literature, with the ability to teach across Key Stages 3, 4, and potentially 5.
  • Experience teaching English in a secondary school setting (preferred but not essential).
  • Excellent classroom management skills, ensuring a positive and productive learning environment.
  • A passion for literature and the ability to inspire students to appreciate and analyze texts.
  • Ability to differentiate lessons to accommodate various learning styles and abilities.
  • Enhanced DBS heck (on the update service or willingness to undergo one).
